Garmin nuvifone now official

nuvifone

Garmin has just announced its ‘iPhone killer’ smartphone, the nüvifone. The nüvifone offers full browsing, PIM, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. We like its ultrathin design with beautiful full touchscreen. The device runs Garmin’s OS which is based on the UI its GPS units run, and it runs it very smoothly. There is no telling when it will be released, but we would say some time later this year.

Maps application updated for iPhone, iPod touch

Skyhook logoThe iPhone and iPod touch have a new feature from Skyhook Wireless’ WiFi Positioning System (WPS) that shows your location. It works by searching for WiFi signals through entire metropolitan areas and displays it within the application. To our knowledge it is not very precise at the time so stick with a GPS device if you want your location to be accurate. But it is better than wondering where you are if lost.

iKon Phone

Psion Teklogix has just released the iKon PDA phone. This smartphone features a 3.7-inch VGA display, an integrated camera, built-in GPS, GSM / GPRS / UMTS connectivity options, Bluetooth, WiFi, a barcode scanner and your choice of Windows Mobile 6 Classic / Professional or CE.net 5. Something that many people will like is this PDA can survive a fall from five feet to concrete. Unfortunatly, Psion Teklogix isn’t telling us what the iKon will cost, so you will have to wait till December to find out.
