Acer to release Blu-ray-equipped 16 and 18.4-inch laptops

acer blu-ray laptop

Acer has released many laptops in the past year, but that doesn’t stop them from expanding their selection even further, with the company now reportedly planning on releasing a pair of new notebooks sporting Blu-ray drives and high res screens. It is not entirely offical at this time, but DigiTimes reports that the laptops will consist of a 16-inch and an 18.4-inch model, both of which will feature a “Full HD panel”. Unfortunately at this time, we have no other details on the laptops, but they will be priced between $1,900 and $2,240 when they released in the second quarter of this year.

iStick Concept gets Exposed

istick

Designer Alexei Mikhailov found himself inspired by the iPhone’s design, making him create a smaller version of the iPhone. Meet the iStick concept, he says it is the perfect mobile convergence device. Alexei Mikhailov came out and told us the iStick isn’t for viewing movies and the screen is too small for effective photo viewing, but we love the concept because it visually replicates the iPhone/Touch within a device the size of a lipstick tube.

Amazingly, all four sides are touch screen sensitive, so it will take some time to find ways to make all of the sides useful. Features include built-in WiFi for easy iTunes download sessions. We want one!

Lenovo X300 gets benchmarked, Video

Lenovo X300

There have been many reviews of Lenovo’s slim new X300, but if you still are not sure if you want to buy it check out some benchmarks and video courtesy of NoteBook review. Lenovo’s X300 did not surprise us much, the X300 trailed both the Macbook Air and Sony Vaio TZ in processor tests, but won for overall system performance. The video (after the jump) shows off the X300 from every angle and compares it to the Thinkpad T61 and X61.

AT&T jumps on the band wagon, launches unlimited plan

ATT

We don’t know if Verizon’s Unlimited Plan announcement had anything to do with it, but AT&T announced today an unlimited plan for the same $99 as Verizon. The plan will be available starting Friday, February 22, and like Verizon’s, it only includes voice calling, data and messaging will cost extra. The plan will be available to both existing and new customers, and anyone can get it month-to-month with no contract. We find AT&T’s plan very good for consumers.

Elmo Live shows off on video, Very Smart Toy

Elmo Live

We told you we though Elmo Live was very much like a robot warned that Elmo Live was pretty much a full-fledged robot, but we did not think Elmo Live would do all that is shown in this video. This amazing toy sings, dances and tells stories. Watch the video and be amazed. [Video After Jump]

Verizon’s unlimited plans get official, not so great

Verizon’s unlimited plans

We had a feeling that the lineup of unlimited plans we got word of earlier this week were too good to be true, and sadly it was. Verizon has made their Unlimited Plans offical, offering three plans that can each have additional lines added for an additonal cost. The $99/month Basic Plan includes limitless calling only, messaging of all types and data still cost extra, while the Select Plan ($119.99 per month) offers messaging but you will still have to pay $1.99 per MB of data. The Premium Plan is the one that’s really unlimited, offering up unlimited everything for $139.99 per month or $269.99 for two lines. With this news we are let down.

Paramount and Universal to release films on Blu-ray

universal

We have reports that both Paramount and Universal will now make the obvious choice to release their films on Blu-ray. We saw this coming, last week Circuit City databases showed that both studios would indeed change over to Blu-ray.

Palm Centro now official on AT&T

Palm Centro

Like we predicted about a week ago, the long-rumored GSM Palm Centro is now officially available on AT&T upsetting Sprint’s expiring exclusivity, giving AT&T users access to the amazingly small handset. Unlike Unlike Sprint’s version, the AT&T Centro uses EDGE data for a somewhat slower browsing experience; besides that, though, it features a 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD slot, Bluetooth 1.2, support for AT&T’s push-to-talk service, and a full QWERTY keypad. Price with contract and rebate is $99.99.
