Dell is releasing a bunch of new laptops today, and the first are new Latitudes. Just like we told you some time ago, the E series is replacing the D series, with seven new models in total. The E6500, E6400, E5500, and E5400 are usual laptop models with 15.4 and 14.1-inch displays, while the E4400 and E4200 are ultra portables and the E6400 ATG is a tough notebook. The 12-inch E4200 is the lightest business laptop Dell has ever made, weighing only 2.2 pounds, while the 13.3-inch E4200 weighs 3.4 pounds. Dell has told us that the batteries on the usual laptops can last for up to 19 hours, which sounds to good to be true. The new models also are available with a backlit keyboard, and can be used with dual pointing devices. Consumers can also add a fingerprint reader, and WWAN options including WiMAX.

Here we have Dell’s Latitude roadmap displaying up until Q1 of 2009. You may recall when we broke the E-series news back in February. Sadly the details of each of the new E-series is still to come. Until that time arrives, sit back and relax knowing that Dell’s thinner, lighter Centrino 2-based E-series laptops with amazing “all day batteries” and an emphasis on design are coming very soon.

We first saw the XPS 630 at CES and now it is official. As expected, the desktop is ATI CrossFire and NVIDIA SLI-ready and will support Intel’s Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Extreme processors on a nForce 650i SLI chipset. Dell give you the option to add up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, 1TB of HDD space or an Blu-ray drive and AGEIA PhysX accelerator, and you’ll have plenty of space for your iPod with six total USB 2.0 ports, an optional 19-in-1 media card reader, gigabit Ethernet, audio in / out, FireWire and even PS/2 mouse and keyboard connectors. FYI, it’s the first pre-fab PC to support the Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA), and you can buy one for as little as $1,249 right now.

Dell announced Tuesday their plans to purchase the business email services company MessageOne for $155 million in cash. MessageOne’s software, which is delivered to customers over the Internet, helps companies manage and archive e-mail, minimize outages and prevent data losses, said Dell in a statement. MessageOne was co-founded by Dell’s Michael Dell with his brother Adam Dell and is owned in part by Impact Venture Partners and Impact Entrepreneurs Fund. If there is a deal, Michael Dell, his wife Susan and their children’s trust will receive about $12 million. Adam Dell will get about $970,000 and his parents will receive about $450,000.

Dell’s newest laptop, soon to be announced Latitude E-series has been leaked. All we know at the time is it will weigh 4.25 pounds, come in 14.1-inch and 15.4-inch versions, and will have WXGA and WXGA+ LED backlit displays. We believe they will also feature DisplayPort, eSATA, and ExpressCard slots. More soon to come.
