Designer Alexei Mikhailov found himself inspired by the iPhone’s design, making him create a smaller version of the iPhone. Meet the iStick concept, he says it is the perfect mobile convergence device. Alexei Mikhailov came out and told us the iStick isn’t for viewing movies and the screen is too small for effective photo viewing, but we love the concept because it visually replicates the iPhone/Touch within a device the size of a lipstick tube.
Amazingly, all four sides are touch screen sensitive, so it will take some time to find ways to make all of the sides useful. Features include built-in WiFi for easy iTunes download sessions. We want one!

The iPhone and iPod touch have a new feature from Skyhook Wireless’ WiFi Positioning System (WPS) that shows your location. It works by searching for WiFi signals through entire metropolitan areas and displays it within the application. To our knowledge it is not very precise at the time so stick with a GPS device if you want your location to be accurate. But it is better than wondering where you are if lost.

There have been many iPod ripoffs that have caught our eye. But this one is just plain ugly. Look at it. The MP4-21 from Shenzhen Sietek Industrial a knock off that went wrong trying to copy the clickwheel but instead streching it out. The device supports MTV videos, WMA, MP3 and WMV audio files and JPEG images, and has seven EQ modes.
It features a 2.4-inch TFT screen that displays 262,000 colors, a usb port, and a miniSD slot. The MP4-21 comes with built-in games, which look to be somewhat like Nintendo. Support for Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP.

Just as everyone knew, Apple has released version 1.1.2 of the iPod touch firmware. MacRumors reports that the new firmware adds a new “Add Event” functionality in the Calendar, we think that it should have been included in v 1.0. Other than that we see no other new features.
We have reports that say that the new firmware has already been hacked. And yes indeed that is true.
